Lightnin' Bug Butter Cake

Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons sugar
1/3 cup butter
1 and 1/4 cups sugar
3/4 cup butter
1/4 cup light corn syrup
1 egg
2/3 cup evaporated milk
powder sugar

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350.
1) Combine 1 cup flour and 3 tablespoons sugar in a mixin' bowl.
2) Cut in 1/3 cup butter 'til the mixture resembles fine crumbs
and starts to cling.
3) Pat crumbs into the bottom of an ungreased 9x9x2" pan.
4) Beat together 1 and 1/4 cups sugar and 3/4 cup butter
'til thoroughly combined.
5) Beat in the corn syrup and egg 'til just combined.
6) Add the remainin' 1 cup flour and 2/3 cup evaporated milk
alternately to the fillin'.
7) Beat 'til just combined. Don't worry if the batter appears to be curdled. It's supposed to look that way.
8) Pour fillin' on top of crust.
9) Bake for about thirty-five minutes or 'til cake is nearly firm when
you shake the pan.
9) Cool in pan on a wire rack.
10) Sift powdered sugar over the top when cool.
