I never tell folks what these cookies are called [or what the secret ingredient is] 'til after they've tried one and they're reachin' for more.

Garlic 'N Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:
10 cloves fresh garlic
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
boilin' water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup maple syrup
2 and 1/4 cups chocolate chips
1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 and 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon bakin' soda
2 eggs

Instructions:
1) Preheat oven to 375�.
2) Drop garlic into a small pot of boilin' water for about five minutes.
3) Peel and mince garlic, then soak it in maple syrup for about
twenty minutes or so.
4) While the garlic is soakin', cream together butter, both sugars,
eggs, and vanilla extract 'til light and fluffy.
5) In a separate bowl, combine the flour,bakin' soda and salt.
5) Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture.
6) Add the chocolate chips and the nuts.
7) Drain the garlic and add it to the cookie batter, then mix thoroughly.
6) Drop batter by spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets, approximately 2" apart.
7) Bake for about ten minutes, 'til lightly browned.
8) Remove from oven and cool on racks.

This recipe makes about five dozen cookies.
