Julia's Chocolate Puddin' Cake

Ingredients:
3/4 cup white sugar, divided
1 cup all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons bakin' cocoa
2 teaspoons bakin' powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup whole milk
1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted
1 and 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 cup white sugar
1/4 cup bakin' cocoa
1 and1/4 cups hot water
2 tablespoons warm water
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
cherry pie fillin', homemade or canned

Instructions:
1) Preheat oven to 350�.
2) Combine 3/4 cup white sugar, all-purpose flour,
3 tablespoons bakin' cocoa, bakin' powder, and salt in large bowl.
3) Add milk, melted butter and vanilla.
4) Beat 'til smooth.
5) Spread batter in an 8" or 9" square bakin' pan.
6) Stir together remainin' 1/2 cup white sugar, brown sugar
and 1/4 cup bakin' cocoa in small bowl.
7) Sprinkle sugar mixture evenly over batter.
8) Combine hot water, warm water, and almond extract.
Pour over batter.
9) Bake for forty minutes, or 'til center is just about set.
10) Let stand for fifteen minutes.
11) Spoon into individual dessert dishes,
spoonin' sauce from the bottom of the pan over the top.
12) Serve with cherry pie fillin' and, if desired,
a dollop of whipped cream.
