" __Julia Child "Cooking is a creation." __Piero Selvaggio "'Tis an ill cook that cannot lick his own fingers." __William Shakespeare ______________________________________Okra-matoes Ingredients: 4 large slices bacon 1 large onion, chopped 1 and 1/2 pounds fresh okra --- okra should be washed, stemmed, and cut in 3/4" rounds 4 large, firm tomatoes, peeled and chopped salt and pepper to taste 1 small hot red pepper, chopped Instructions: 1) Fry bacon in a skillet 'til crisp. Drain, crumble and set aside. 2) Put onion in the skillet and simmer for about ten minutes, stirrin' occasionally. 3) Add the okra, tomatoes, salt, pepper, and hot pepper. 4) Stir and simmer for about twenty minutes, 'til the okra and tomatoes are just gettin' soft, but not mushy. 5) Put in a servin' bowl and top with crumbled bacon.
