It should be entered into with abandon or not at all." __Harriet Van Horne ______________________________________Irresistible Buttermilk Biscuits Ingredients: 1 package dry yeast 2 tablespoons warm water [approx. 110�] 2 cups buttermilk 5 cups self-risin' flour 3/4 cups white sugar 1 cup Crisco shortenin' Instructions: 1) Dissolve the yeast in warm water. 2)Stir the yeast mixture into buttermilk. Mix thoroughly, then set aside. 3) Combine the flour and sugar; then cut in the shortenin' 'til mixture has the look of coarse meal. 4) Add the buttermilk mixture to the flour mixture and stir 'til thedry ingredients are moistened. 5) Cover and let rise in a warm place 'til the dough is doubled. 6) Punch dough down, then turn it out on a lightly floured surface. 7) Knead gently a few times, then roll it out to 1/2 inch thickness. 8) Cut with a 2 inch biscuit cutter. 9) Place biscuits on lighlty greased bakin' sheets. 10) Bake at 450� 'til lightly browned [ten to twelve minutes dependin' on your oven] and serve immediately.
