This is one of my adopted granny's favorite desserts.

Easy Patch Cobbler

1 cup butter
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
3 eggs
3 tablespoons milk
4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon bakin' soda
a few slices of fresh bread, torn into small pieces
2 cans (15 ounces each) pie fillin', any flavor

Ingredients:
1) Preheat oven to 350�.
2) Mix together the butter, sugar, eggs, milk, flour and bakin' soda
'til thoroughly combined, then set aside.
3) Lightly butter a 13x9x2" pan.
4) Sprinkle the bottom of the pan with the fresh bread pieces.
5) Pat out half of the dough and carefully place on top of bread pieces, patting gently with hands.
6) Spread fillin' over the dough
and then place patches of the remainin' dough over top.
7) Sprinkle with a little granulated sugar and bake for approximately
50 minutes, or 'til the top is light brown in spots. Miz' Tate likes her patch cobbler to be served with Cool Whip.
