It should be entered into with abandon or not at all." __Harriet Van Horne ______________________________________A Spicy Vegetable Soup Ingredients: 3 ears of corn [remove corn from cobs] 3 medium sized carrots, cut in 1/4 inch pieces 2 and 1/2 pounds fresh tomatoes, chopped and cored 2 medium sized potatoes, peeled and cubed 2 small onions, chopped 1 and 1/2 cups okra, cut into 1/2 inch pieces 1 cup lima beans 1 teeny tiny little jalepeno pepper, minced 2 tablespoons salt wrap these spices in a small piece of cheesecloth: 25 whole peppercorns 12 whole cloves 1/2 teaspoon thyme leaves 1/2 teaspoon marjarom leaves Instructions: 1) Use a small piece of cheese cloth to tie up the peppercorns, cloves, thyme, and marjoram. 2) Put all the ingredients [includin' the spices wrapped in cheese cloth] in a soup kettle and add water 'til it just covers everything. 3) Let the soup get just shy of boilin' over medium high heat. 4) Turn the heat down real low and simmer, uncovered, for as many hours as it takes 'til the vegetables are of the texture you like best. 5) Remove the spices wrapped in cheese cloth prior to servin'. Yield: aproximately 1 gallon of soup
